Minor Girl Assault Case Registered in Shahkot

PHAGWARA: A case of sexual assault and criminal intimidation has been registered by Shahkot police.involving a minor girl aged about 13 years.
According to the victim, a resident of village Badma, lodged a complaint against Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, resident of village Gehlri, Shahkot. The complaint alleges that on May 7, the accused established physical relations with the minor against her will and threatened her with dire consequences.
Police have registered the case under Section 64(351)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These provisions deal with sexual offences against minors, rape, and criminal intimidation.
The Shahkot police have initiated investigation into the matter. The incident has sparked concern in the local community, highlighting the urgent need for vigilance and strict enforcement of child protection laws. Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued thoroughly to ensure justice for the victim.
