The Khalsa Panth should unite and firmly combat such tactics. He said that if the institutions become weak, there will be a big loss for the nation.
Addressing the gathering,
Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the agenda of the current government of Punjab is to target Panthic institutions. The statements made by the Chief Minister towards Sikh institutions reflect his mentality. He said that it is the responsibility of the Shiromani Committee to inform the Sangat about the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and every member will fulfill this responsibility with dedication.
He said that in today's gathering, it was decided to hold a Panthic gathering on July 5, 2026 at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall as per the ancient tradition, in which invitations will be sent to all Sikh sects. He appealed to all Sikh organizations and Sabha societies to participate in this Panthic gathering.
On this occasion, resolutions were also presented in the gathering by Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, which was approved by the members present amidst cheers.
A resolution passed in the general meeting of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said that the video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's gross desecration of the picture of the Gurus and Sikh General Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale has created great anger and outrage in the entire Sikh world. This is a big mistake by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann which is unforgivable. Taking note of this by Sri Akal Takht Sahib while representing Sikh sentiments is an important action in the direction of national traditions, which this general meeting reinforces.
The resolution said that for the Sikh community, the Gurus, the Guru tradition, respect for martyrs and Guru-mariyada are supreme. Insulting any symbol, form or symbol related to these hurts the hearts of crores of Sikhs. Therefore, in the context of Panthic sensitivity and religious beliefs, the action of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is not a mistake but a big sin. It is sad that instead of bowing down to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and accepting the mistake, he is insulting Sri Akal Takht Sahib by repeatedly telling lies to hide his sin.
Sri Akal Takht Sahib, which was established by the sixth Guru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji to give concrete form to the principle of Miri-Piri, is the highest religious and Panthic entity of the Sikh community. In Sikh history, Sri Akal Takht Sahib has been the center for resolving Panthic issues, protecting Guru-Maryada and providing national guidelines. Therefore, respecting and following its orders, orders and guidelines has been and will always be the common responsibility of the entire Panth.
The gathering believes that a person sitting in a high constitutional position like the Chief Minister of Punjab is expected to take special care of the religious, cultural and historical sensitivities of Punjab. If any of his actions or occurrences have caused resentment and sorrow among the Sikh community, then it is an integral part of the national tradition to take moral responsibility towards him. Now that the entire nation has taken this matter with concern, this decision is made with full respect for the notice taken and orders issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding this matter.
In a resolution, strong objection was expressed to the Maharashtra government's decision to repeal the 1956 Act related to the management of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib Abchalnagar Nanded and bring a new law. The resolution said that no one is allowed to interfere in the dignity, management and religious autonomy of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, one of the five Takhts of the Sikh community. This decision of the government is an attempt to increase government influence by interfering in the Gurdwara management and is against the religious sentiments of the Sikhs and the autonomy of the Gurdwara management. Today's meeting of the Shiromani Committee appeals to the Maharashtra government to immediately stop the process of changing the 1956 Act or making arbitrary amendments to it. Respecting the independence and traditions of the religious institutions of the Sikh community, the 1956 Act should be kept in its original form.
The resolution stated that the respect for the Gurus, the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the unique national identity of the Sikh community are higher than any person, position or political power and it is the unwavering duty of the entire Khalsa Panth to protect them. Therefore, the General Assembly appeals to the entire Sikh community to remain united under the leadership of Panthic unity, discipline, Gurmat principles and Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
It was also said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has not given any clear, factual and satisfactory answer regarding the matter so far, therefore legal action will be taken against him by filing a case. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has lost the moral right to continue in office, therefore he should resign immediately.
It is the responsibility of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to inspire the Sangat towards the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, for this a big campaign will be launched in every constituency. Wherever the preaching group will go to preach Sikhism, they will also inspire people to firmly uphold the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib against Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The resolution appealed to the entire Khalsa Panth, Sikh institutions, Gurdwara Management Committees, religious organizations and Panth devotees to oppose Bhagwant Singh Mann at all levels to protect the Guru's dignity as per the leadership and orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Similarly, in another resolution, taking the Panthic situation and the confrontational policy being adopted by the Chief Minister of Punjab towards Sri Akal Takht Sahib seriously, it was said that the Chief Minister has taken the help of lies to protect himself and has got a fake report prepared from the laboratory in Gurgaon by using government officials and influence, the truth of which has now come before the Sangat. Jaspreet Singh, who is associated with the said laboratory, also issued a statement in the media and an FIR has also been registered by the Haryana Police in this regard. In the resolution, it was asked to register a case under the crimes of creating false evidence by misusing the honorable constitutional position of the Chief Minister, using government officials, government money, falsifying real evidence and hurting religious sentiments, including sacrilege. For this purpose, a delegation of members of the SGPC's Interim Committee will meet the DGP Punjab and ask for legal action against Bhagwant Singh Mann and his associates.
Similarly, while passing another resolution, it was decided to convene a grand Panthic gathering on July 5, 2026 at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall as per the ancient tradition regarding this serious matter of the nation. This Panthic gathering will include all Sikh organizations, Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh Dals, Sikh institutions, Singh Sabhas, Diwans, Sikh Federations, Sabha Societies, Udasi, Nirmala and Kar Seva Wale Mahapurush, Sewa Panthi Sampradhans, Gurdwara Committees, Sikh scholars and intellectuals, and the Sikh Sangat.
