Minor Girl Allegedly Lured Away on False Promise of Marriage; Police Register Kidnapping Case in Begowal

KAPURTHALA: The Begowal Police have registered a case under Sections 363 and 366A of the Indian Penal Code following allegations that a 16-year-old girl was lured away from her home on the false promise of marriage.
According to the complaint Smt Emvati, resident of Chaddi Patti near Begowal , she has five daughters and two sons, and that her youngest daughter.
She told that her missing minor girl studied up to Class VII at Government Senior Secondary School, Begowal,who left her home on June 19, without informing any family member. After failing to locate her despite searching among relatives and nearby areas, the family allegedly learned that Sunita, wife of Surinder and a resident of Kapil Colony, along with Ravi, son of Anil, also a resident of Kapil Colony under Begowal Police Station, had allegedly enticed the minor and taken her away on the pretext of marriage.
Acting on the complaint, Begowal Police registered a case under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366A (procuration of a minor girl) of the IPC and initiated an investigation. The probe has been entrusted to Assistant Sub-Inspector Pargat Singh.
Police said that one of the accused, Sunita, has been arrested, while further investigation is underway to trace the minor girl and apprehend the remaining accused. Authorities are continuing efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and take further legal action in accordance with the findings of the investigation
