LUDHIANA: People getting names of movie stars or singers tattooed is a common thing amongst their fans, but to get the name of a doctor tattooed is a rare phenomena.
A patient Sukhwinder Kaur, belonging to Malerkotla, suffering from a rare case of an 'extra adrenal paraganglioma' was operated by a team led by Dr Anish Bhatia, an oncourgeon of Fortis hospital here. The patient has recovered and doesn't need any treatment except for follow up.
Her son Gurdeep Singh, as a mark of respect and to show his gratitude got the name of Dr Anish Bhatia tattooed on his arm.
Discussing about the complex surgery, Dr Anish Bhatia said that the patient was presented to him with complaint of abdominal pain and on evaluation she was found to be having a large tumour in her abdomen which was adherent to major vessels of body. She was refused surgery at three different centres previously, being a risky operation, but expert team of surgeons and anaesthetists performed the rare surgery and removed the entire tumour without causing any significant damage to the vessels or bleeding. The team of doctors led by cancer specialist Dr. Anish Bhatia along with vascular surgeon Dr. Junish Bagga and CVTS surgeon Dr. Nikhil Bansal and anaesthetist Dr. Harpreet were involved in surgery.
"Such tumors usually lead to a lot of BP(Blood Pressure) fluctuations", observed Dr Anish bhatia. The said patient also had major BP fluctuations which were managed well by the doctors at fortis. The patient was discharged 4 days post surgery and is recuperating well. The patient does not require any further treatment and just needs regular follow ups.
To show the appreciation for Dr Anish Bhatia, the patient’s son decided to get his name tattooed on his arm, citing him to be a real hero and saviour. Patient's son Gurdeep said he wanted to do something special to thank the doctor and thus decided to do it and surprise the entire fortis team.
