Two real sisters jumped into Kapil Muni Tirtha Pond, mother also attempted suicide after hearing the news of death of daughters.

KALAYAT: A painful incident of two real sisters committing suicide by jumping into Town pond has come to light on Tuesday morning in the historical Shri Kapil Muni Mandir Teerth of Kalayat. As soon as the news of her daughters' death was received, the shocked mother also jumped into the water of the shrine, however, due to the promptness of the local people, she was pulled out safely.
According to the information, 20-year-old Palak, resident of Kulwant Nagar, Ward No. 1 Railway Road, Kalayat, who was working in a gas agency, and her 18-year-old sister Paramjeet, who was a first year BA student, jumped into the deep water of Shri Kapil Muni Mandir Tirtha at around 5.15 am on Tuesday. According to family members, there was an argument in the house on Monday night regarding household chores, after which both the sisters left the house on Tuesday morning and reached the temple pilgrimage. It is said that both of them took off their slippers on the bank of the pond, crossed the railing and jumped into the deep water. Two women present in the temple premises saw the two girls jumping into the water and immediately informed the local people. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and divers were called, but due to their not arriving on time, the local youth themselves entered the water and pulled out the two sisters. By then both of them had died.
In the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the pilgrimage complex, both the sisters are seen moving rapidly towards the pond. The mother, who reached the spot after receiving information about the drowning of her two daughters, became distraught and jumped into the Tirath pond . However, the people present there showed promptness and took her out safely.
Ravindra Kumar, father of the deceased, said that he had four daughters. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the family after this incident. Police have sent both the bodies to Kaithal Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Police station in-charge Subhash Chandra said that the police team had reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Statements of the family members have been recorded and CCTV footage has been seized and the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
