Punjab to pay Rs.1400 crores for paddy procurement to farmers immediately
CHANDIGARH: Easing out the farmers of the state by giving them a relief, the Punjab government has released Rs. 1400 Crore today for their procured wheat during the current Rabi Marketing Season 2015-16.

Disclosing this here today Food Minister Punjab Mr. Adaish Pratap Singh Kairon said that after having a word with the National Payment Corporation of India, a section of RBI , they have assured him to do all the transactions on Friday May 1, despite being a holiday in Mumbai on the occasion of May Day. The Minister also said that all the payments were being electronically disbursed to the accounts of arthiyas/farmers.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tarsem Saini, President Punjab Rice Shellers Association handed over the 3 trucks loaded with Rice to Mr. Adaish Pratap Singh Kairon for the Nepal earthquake victims. The Consignment was later flagged off in the evening by the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal. Mr saini assured the minister that the Rice Sellers Association was with the Minister in this hour of grave crisis and was prepared to contribute more, if required for the earthquake victims.
