AMRITSAR: After the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, prayers were offered by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for the release of Sikh prisoners detained in various jails of the country for the last three decades.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami along with Shiromani Committee members and other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Dhami said that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and several Sikhs despite completed their imprisonment are not released . and described it as an expression expression of the anti-Sikh mentality of the governments.
He said that the governments should realize that these sikh detainees had taken action in view of the situation as the holy shrines of Sikhs were being targeted by the government at that time. No true Sikh can tolerate an attack on his shrines and community.
The SGPC President said that Guru Sahib was capable and the prayer request of the Sikh Panth would be granted.
It may be mentioned that earlier Prime minister Narendra Modi had already announced about release of those Sikhs who completed their imprisonment on the occasion of 550 birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji But this announcement was not implemented so far.
Meanwhile, the SGPC President also appealed to the government to take concrete steps to control the people who were inciting communal hatred in Punjab.
He said that the government should take strict action against those who were spreading lies against the Sikh community so that the atmosphere in Punjab remained calm.
