AMRITSAR: As per the Union government’s New Education Policy-2020, the department of higher education, government of Punjab has approved the conversion of Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue into ‘Khalsa College Ranjit Avenue’ Amritsar. It is the first B.Ed. College in the state to be converted as Degree College, said the authorities.
The College, now re-named as ‘Khalsa College Ranjit Avenue’ starts admissions for all Arts and Science subjects from the current academic year of 2026-27, said Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. He, along with other office-bearers of the Council, took part in the Ardas (prayers) meeting held at College campus, organized by Principal Dr. Mandeep Kaur and her staff.
Established in 2005 by KCGC, the College applied for conversion and after rigorous inspections, the higher education department gave its mandatory approval to change the status of the institution, which has also been ratified by National Council Teachers Education (NCTE), New Delhi. Chhina hoped that as the B.Ed College had made its name in the education world in the region, the new degree College will also emerge as a premier educational institution in the coming years.
Dr. Mandeep, meanwhile said that the College, previously played an important role in the professional and teachers’ training and now apart from the B. Ed., M. Ed., ITEP (BA.-B. Ed.), (B.Sc-B. Ed.) and 3-year B. Ed.-M. Ed. Integrated courses would also be available here. She said other courses including BA, B.Sc., B. Com. B.Sc. PGDCA, (TE) would also be available. The College is already re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade, said she.
With this, the College is getting a new direction and will further promote its academic and co-curricular activities, apart from providing a modern education system, experienced teachers, digital classrooms, high-level laboratories and various activities are being continuously run for the all-round development of the students. Principal thanked all the management office bearers, Principal and Directors of other Khalsa institutions, for all out support and assistance.
