BKU(Doaba) leaders meet CM, seeks intervention to clear pending sugarcane dues in Golden Sandhar Sugar Mill
PHAGWRA: The members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Doaba), who had assembled at Dana Mandi to press for the release of pending sugarcane arrears from Golden Sandhar Sugar Mill, sought a meeting with the Chief Minister. Acting on their request, Phagwara Police, under the supervision of SSP Kapurthala Gaurav Toora and SP Phagwara Madhvi Sharma, facilitated a meeting between the farmer delegation and the Chief Minister near the backstage area after the conclusion of the Lok Milni rally.
The delegation, led by BKU (Doaba) State President Manjit Singh Rai, included Kirpal Singh Moosapur, Major Singh Athouli, Kirpal Singh Pala Mauli, Baljinder Singh Behram, Davinder Singh Sandhwan and Manjit Singh Lallian. The farmer leaders submitted a memorandum highlighting the issue of pending sugarcane dues and sought immediate intervention by the state government.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann heard the concerns of the delegation and assured the farmers that their genuine demands would be considered sympathetically and appropriate action would be taken at the earliest. The Chief Minister also assured local representatives that civic issues, including the demand for underground electricity cables in Phagwara, would be examined and addressed in a phased manner.
