RBU marks Intl Yoga Day with enthusiastic participation
MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic development. The event was jointly organized by the University’s NCC and NSS Departments and witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, staff, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students.
Prof. (Major) A. S. Chahal, Director NCC/NSS, informed that as part of the International Yoga Day Campaign, the university organized a series of awareness and training programmes. Earlier A Yoga Awareness Programme was conducted at Rayat Bahra Senior Secondary School, to educate students about the benefits of yoga and encourage healthy lifestyle practices.
The campaign was further strengthened through a special yoga session organized on June 16 in collaboration with Divya Channel. The programme attracted enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, sports students, faculty members, and university staff, focusing on the role of yoga in maintaining physical and mental health.
The main celebration also witnessed participation from students of RBU, RBIS, Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Kharar, Sacred Souls School, Gharuan, and Anee School, Kharar. Participants performed various yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, meditation exercises, and other yoga practices under the guidance of experienced instructors. The sessions emphasized stress management, improved concentration, physical fitness, and overall well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar emphasized yoga’s deep roots in Indian culture and its role in achieving a balanced lifestyle. Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur reiterated the university’s commitment to the holistic development of students.
The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Major) A. S. Chahal, Director NCC/NSS, and Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Katoch, CTO.
