Medicinal, Shade-Giving Saplings Planted at GNDU College Verka to Mark World Environment Day
AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University College, Verka, celebrated World Environment Day by organizing a plantation drive on its campus under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh and Dean, College Development Council, Dr. Saroj Arora.
College Principal Dr. Sukhpreet Singh, faculty members and students participated in the drive and planted a variety of medicinal and shade-giving saplings. The initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation, enhancing greenery and creating awareness among students about the importance of protecting nature.
Saplings of different species were provided by the Forest Department from the Government Nursery at Kohali village in Ajnala tehsil. Officials, including Ms Mamta, Nirmal Singh, Baldev Singh and Satnam Singh, extended support in making the programme successful.
Speaking on the occasion, participants highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, tree plantation and the need to create a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
Dr. Sukhpreet Singh appreciated the efforts of Red Ribbon Club Coordinator Dr. Sonika Thakur, Dr. Jasminder Pal Singh, faculty members and students for their active participation. Referring to the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he stressed the need for collective efforts to protect and preserve the environment.
