DRDO experts attend seminar on science & tech

MOHALI:  Top scientists attended a seminar on "Recent Trends in Science & Technology” organised by the University School of Sciences of the Rayat Bahra University here today.

 Dr Harvinder Kaur, Dean, University School of Sciences  and Dr OP Middha, Registrar, Rayat Bahra University, (USS), welcomed the experts Dr Akhilesh Sharma, Group director, Scientist G, and Dr Pramod Soni, Joint Director, Scientist F, Terminal Ballistic Research Lab of Defense Research and Development Organization, Chandigarh.

The seminar comprised of two plenary sessions and one Open Interaction session. In the first plenary session, Dr Akhilesh Sharma highlighted the role of DRDO in defense services and provided detailed information about the various services and policies of Terminal Ballistic Research Lab.

During the second plenary session, Dr Pramod Soni spoke about how research related to basic science governed by curiosity can be exploited to develop technologies and prove useful for industries and defense.

The seminar was attended by more than 300 participants including faculty, researchers and students was aimed to sensitize the young minds about how the interrelation of science and technology was required for innovations.

Dr Kaur in her welcome address introduced the experts and emphasized the role of science and technology in nation building.

Students were provided information about entry gateways to DRDO at various levels in the Open interaction session. The seminar concluded by posing vote of thanks by Dr Rajni Garg, coordinator of the event.
