CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has taken another significant step towards making the legal adoption process for orphaned and destitute children more streamlined, transparent, and efficient. Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced today that the state government has approved 16 adoption agencies, which will simplify and expedite the adoption process for prospective parents.

PHAGWARA: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) Doaba, under the leadership of State General Secretary Satnam Singh Sahni, today held a state-level meeting at Gurudwara Sukhchiana Sahib, Phagwara, to strategize a protest against the Punjab government. The meeting was convened in response to the arrest of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) (Non-Political) leaders at the Shambhu and Khanouri borders on March 19.

CHANDIGARH: Under the rule of the so-called farmer-friendly Aam Aadmi Party, poor cauliflower cultivating farmers of Punjab are forced to sell the vegetable at Rs 1 per kg, while their counterparts in the neighboring state of Haryana are selling the same cauliflower at Rs 7.50 per kg under the Bharatiya Janta Party government. Under the Bhavantar Bharpayee Scheme of the Haryana Government, farmers are selling at Rs 7.50 per kg where the state government pays for the gap between the actual price and MSP.

CHANDIGARH:Principal Secretary Health Mr. Alok Shekhar here today stated that an upsurge in dengue cases has been reported in Punjab in the current year. He said 1724 confirmed cases from across state have already been reported till day. Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SAS Nagar, Bathinda, and Pathankot are among the major districts attributing dengue cases. He said that to prevent and manage dengue outbreaks, the Government of Punjab has increased the number of testing labs to 39. He added that testing and treatment of dengue is free of cost in all Government hospitals.

CHANDIGARH:Punjab school education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Friday, said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has decided to convert the subjects of the master cadre posts reserved for visually impaired category candidates for their convenience. The cabinet minister said that the education department would now offer the same quota in the posts of Arts stream subjects in lieu of posts remaining vacant in the science and commerce stream subjects and physical education subject as well due to non-availability of suitable candidates.

PATIALA: Cabinet Minister for Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today inaugurated the newly constructed building of Sadar Police Station Patiala, built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government today extended term of Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Mr. Raman Bahl for next two years from March 28, 2021.A spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that the notification on Bahl's extension had already been issued by the personnel department.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab School Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the Education Department, under the visionary stewardship of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, has been striving hard to bring in qualitative improvement in school education as well as generating employment avenues for the educated youth. The School Education Minister, Vijay Inder Singla said that that the Education Recruitment Board, under the aegis of the Education Department, has released a list of as many as 2,823 candidates, who have been selected for recruitment against the 3,704 master cadre posts in the government schools. Mr. Singla and Secretary School Education Krishan Kumar also congratulated the selected candidates.

The Punjabi University, Patiala is an institution of excellence in higher learning and research. Punjabi University, Patiala established in 1962 is a premier institution of Punjab with more than 42,000 students and 60 teaching and research departments, 20 Regional Centres Neighbourhood Campus/Constituent Colleges and about 275 affiliated colleges.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government is organizing a special function on the occasion of International Language Day under the banner of Punjab Arts Council focusing on development of Punjabi Language and culture. This year the function will be dedicated to the ongoing Farmers Protest. The Function will be organised at Punjab Kala Bhawan on February 21 from 10.30 am.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has extended the last date to administer 1st dose vaccination for healthcare workers from 19th February to 25th February 2021. The deadline for 1st dose vaccination of frontline workers has also extended to 6th March, 2021.
