-Mohit Mohindra demands compensation and resettlement of victim youth
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Youth Congress president Mohit Mohindra today said that Punjab Government had no policy to facilitate the Punjabi youth being deported from USA and other countries.
He demanded from Punjab and center government to compensate and rehabilitate the deported youth who sold almost everything. They are the victims of immigration mafia.
PYC president slammed AAP government in Punjab for failing to control unauthorised agents indulging in illegal immigration and misguiding gullible youth to go abroad through donkey route or other illegal means. He said that AAP government had failed to create jobs and work culture. He said that frustration over unemployment was driving youth to fall victim to illegal means to immigration.
Holding state and center government responsible for plight of deported youth, Mohindra said that it was duty of governments to protect the human rights of its citizens. He demanded to frame a comprehensive policy to deal with deportees from US and other countries. He said that Canada was also silently deporting Punjabi youth and they have no way forward to settle in life. Most of the youth belong to poor farmer families who mortgaged land and homes to pay huge amounts to immigration agents.
Mohindra said that first batch of deported Punjabis was just a beginning. He added that more than 8 lakh illegal immigrants are living in US and over 5 lakh in Canada. The majority of them are from Punjab. He said that if US and Canada continue to deport Punjabi youth, it would become a major social and administrative problem. Even a serious law and order problem would erupt if deported youth was not guided into mainstream.
Mohindra said that Prime Minister Narender Modi claims that US president Donald Trump was his close friend. It is unfortunate that Modi had failed to use his influence to protect the interests of Indians living in US. He said that mass deportation would also hit India and states like Punjab and Gujarat economically as the immigrants send trillions of dollars back home. He said that it was humiliating for the PM that Trump had deported the youth just a week before scheduled meeting between two leaders on February 13.
