PATIALA: Under the visionary stewardship of the Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh, Punjab has been witnessing a renaissance era in education. The state of the art infrastructural facilities, innovative activity based teaching techniques, coaching facility for various competitive entrance examinations and digital education have been bringing in positive change in the public mind set, consequently a record increase in enrollment as well as shifting of students from private to government schools is being witnessed.
As far as district Patiala is concerned, as many as 94 primary schools and 29 upper primary schools in Patiala district have witnessed more than 25 percent increase in enrollment during the current academic session. As many as 16, 166 private school students have opted government schools to have an access to better infrastructural and quality education facilities being made available by the Education department in government schools.
While providing details about the same here on Tuesday, District Education Officer( Primary) , Er. Amarjit Singh told that as many as 8, 120 students from private schools had shifted to as many as 940 government primary schools in the district. Similarly, DEO(Secondary) Harinder Kaur said that as many as 8, 046 students from private schools had got themselves admitted in 375 upper primary schools in the district.
The strength of Govt. Primary School, Victoria has risen from 28 to 102. The Government Senior Seindary. school, Feelkhana and Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Civil Lines , Govt. Multipurpose Sr. sec. school, Passi Road have witnessed 53 percent , 30 percent and 39 percent increase in enrollment respectively during the current academic session, they added.
