Cooperative Society land auction scam in Suncity vicinity: Aam Aadmi Party staged a sit-in dharna, demands high level investigation

KAITHAL: On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party staged a sit -in dharna on the scam of crores of rupees in the land auction of the DC House Building Cooperative Society located in the Suncity area of Kaithal, demanding a high -level inquiry and cancellation of the auction .

Aam Aadmi Party district president Jagmag Matour and Master Satbir Goyat said that there has been a scam of crores in this auction. The party alleges that about Rs 130 crore market price land was sold for only Rs 12.75 crore, causing a loss of about crores of rupees to the government treasury. Jagmag alleged that both the side and the opposition in the scam are complicit and all kept silence on the scam.

Jagmag Matour claimed that several members of the committee were being threatened by the land mafia, due to which they are afraid of coming out. However, he said that he has documents given by some members of the committee, which will soon be brought before the media.

Describing the background of the case, Jagamag Matour and Master Satbir Goyat said that this society constituted by 161 members in the year 1991 bought 31 kanal 19 marle land for Rs 10 lakh and paid a stamp duty of Rs 1.25 lakh. This was followed by a dispute in the society, causing a case in Karnal Mandal in the year 1992 and the administrator was appointed. It is alleged that auction attempted several times between 2003 and 2013, but the rules continued to be ignored.

Irregularities in the bidding process:
Jagamag Matour said that the auction schedule was released on 6 March 2025, but for this only advertised in a local newspaper in Chandigarh. According to the rules, one month should have been given for the bid, which was not given. In addition, the Khevat number and other necessary information were not given in the advertisement.

Allegations of disturbances and collusion:
Questioning the auction process, he said that on March 19, the bid was kept from 11 am to 1 pm, but the bid continued even after the scheduled time. He alleged that 8 out of 16 applicants were prevented from bidding under pressure, ending the competition in the bid. The bid was closed for just Rs 12.75 crore at 2.35 pm, while the market rate of land was estimated at Rs 130 crore.

Assessment of market rate and loss:
The Aam Aadmi Party said that the market rate of 20 thousand yards of land is 65 thousand rupees per yard, while the collector rate is 26 thousand rupees per yard and the collector rate of commercial location is 42 thousand rupees per yard. Despite this, such valuable land was sold for less than 13 crores.

The only Aam Aadmi Party is raising the issue:
District President Jagmag Matour said that in this scam, the government treasury has lost crores of rupees on a large scale and the Aam Aadmi Party is the only party that is raising the issue. He has demanded the government to cancel the auction and conduct a fair inquiry.
