CHANDIGARH: For the fourth consecutive day, Punjab’s power consumption stood above 16,000 MW amid unscheduled power cuts. The two third consumers are not satisfied with the working of Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL) in attending their complaints in the month of June.
After the start of the full fledged paddy season there are four days when the power complaints by consumers in Punjab exceed one lakh. As per data the maximum complaints received were on June 11 around 173499. On June 27 the number of complaints were 100371 and 26651 were pending at the end of day , moreover 3376 complaints were attended after 24 hours. The average resolving time was more than 7 hours.The maximum average resolve time on June 21 was 26 hours 49 minutes.
In June the consumers satisfied with PSPCL working in attending their faults was between 20 to 35% which implies that 65 to 80 % consumers were not satisfied.
The power demand today crossed 16900 MW in the afternoon and the state was drawing more than 110000 MW from the northern grid. The state's own generation is 5878 MW comprising 2954 MW by private generators, 1566 MW by state sector thermal plants, and 987 MW of hydro generation. All the four units of Ranjit Sagar project were running in the afternoon.
