AMRITSAR: The birth anniversary of 6th Guru Sri Guru Hargobind sahib was, celebrated with great respect here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, congratulated the congregation on the birth anniversary of the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and discussed the life history of the Guru Sahib.
He said that the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, bestowed upon him such a principle of Miri-Piri and Bhakti-Shakti, which is not found anywhere else in the history of religion. After the martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Guru Sahib, holding two kirpans, gave the message that while a Sikh has to be connected with devotion to the Lord, on the other hand, he also has to stand firm against oppression. To fulfill this principle, Guru Sahib, along with Baba Buddha Sahib Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji, created Sri Akal Takht Sahib with his own hands, which is the highest place of national leadership for Sikhs all over the world.
Jathedar Gargajj said that the sixth king fought four wars against oppression and by winning, he proved that the power of truth, justice and religion is greater than any empire.
He said that at a time when wearing a turban, carrying weapons and riding a horse was prohibited for the common man, Guru Sahib ordered the Sikhs to become saints and soldiers by wearing a turban and carrying weapons.
He said that even today, under the efforts to raise questions about the kirpan and other Sikh weapons, the dignity bestowed by the Guru and the religious rights of the Sikhs are being directly attacked, which the Sikh community will never accept.
He said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the throne of the Guru, the forces challenging which have been limited to the pages of history. Nadir Shah, Ahmed Shah Abdali, Zakaria Khan and many tyrants have come and gone, but this throne of truth is still steadfast and will remain forever. He said that the true devotion of the Sikhs is linked to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the entire Panth accepts every Hukamnama and message issued from here with bowed heads.
He appealed to the Sangat that on the occasion of the Parkash Purb of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, we should connect more strongly with Guru Granth Sahib and Guru Panth, connect our young generation with Gurmat, Gurbani and Sikh history and further strengthen national unity under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He called upon the entire Khalsa Panth to follow the path of Miri-Piri shown by Guru Sahib and firmly uphold the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee celebrated the birth anniversary of the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the owner of Miri Piri, with devotion and respect at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. After the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the Hazuri Raagi Jatha of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan.
