Truck driver arrested for killing Chandigarh girl, boy

PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a truck driver on the charge of killing a Chandīgarh girl and a boy in an accident.

The investigating officer (IO) Rajinderpal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Sukhwindar Singh a resident of Dholann village in Jagraon Tehsil.

Dhian Singh a resident of Sector 56, Chandigarh complained to the police that his nephew Akash (19) and his girlfriend Puja were going to Nakodar to pay their obeisance at a Dera on September 9. He said when they reached Shankar village the accused truck driver hit their two-wheeler killing Akash on the spot and Puja breathed her last in Jalandhar Hospital.

IO said a case under section 106(causing death by negligence )281(rash driving on a public road) 125A, 125(B) (causing grievous hurt), and 324(4) (mischief)of the BHS has been registered against the accused driver
