PHAGWARA: The Nakodar city police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of women thieves and arrested its one member.
The Investigating officer (IO) said that the accused has been identified as Kanta wife of Gurmit Lal a resident of Ganna Ping village under Phillaur police.
IO said that he has received information that the accused are habitual thieves indulging in thefts in Nakodar , Lohian and Goraya bazaars and are coming to Nakodar in a car.
IO said the car was intercepted at a Nak and arrested Kanta but her accomplices Kamlesh wife of Ranna and Billo wife of Aashu residents of Ganna Ping village and their one unidentified accomplice managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
IO said that a case under sections 379(theft) and 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 34(committing the crime with common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
