CHANDIGARH: A total of 13, 795 cases were disposed off by the benches of serving judicial officers constituted in New District Courts Complex here on Sunday.
The cases included three Criminal Compoundable, 1570 cases under Section 138 of N.I. Act involving an amount of Rs.3, 14, 02, 067/-, 26 Motor Accident Claim cases involving an amount of Rs.4, 12, 25, 000/-, 42 Matrimonial/Family Disputes, 91 Civil Suits and Rent Cases involving an amount of Rs.1, 83, 68, 884/-, 75 Executions involving an amount of Rs.2, 64, 37, 778/-, 02 Criminal Revision, 29 Crl. Misc. involving amount of Rs.23, 000/-, 35 Civil Misc. involving amount of Rs.3, 32, 65, 534/-, 47 Arbitration cases, 01 Civil/Rent Appeal, 21 cases of 125 Cr.P.C., 21 cases of D.V. Act, 23 Untrace cases, 14 cases of Registrar of Companies Act/Shop Act involving an amount of Rs.5, 26, 000/-, 21 Criminal Appeals involving amount of Rs.44, 49, 000/-, seven cases of Guardian/Succession Act, 8345 Traffic Challans were also disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs.75, 19, 630/-.
In addition to above, 2988 cases involving an amount of Rs.13, 80, 028/- were disposed of by Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), 23 pre-litigative cases involving an amount of Rs.12, 25, 899/-, 54 cases were settled in Permanent Lok Adalat (Continuous) involving an amount of Rs.3, 00, 000/-, 19 Labour Dispute Cases involving an amount of Rs.14, 03, 799/-, 300 Debts Recovery Tribunal Cases and 73 Consumer Court Cases involving an amount of Rs.3, 92, 00, 000/- were also disposed of.
The National Lok Adalat was held under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, the State Legal Services Authority alongwith District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh. Necessary directions regarding safety of litigants, staff and Judicial officers of the Court keeping in view the public rush had been adhered to.
Fourteen benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh. Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act, Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters, other Civil Cases, Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed off with the consent of the parties.
