Congress Party paid tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
LUDHIANA: On the death anniversary of the country’s first Prime Minister, late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Congress Party today paid floral tributes to him during a gathering organized at Sarabha Nagar here. On the occasion, party leaders remembered Pandit Nehru’s contribution to nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, former President of the Ludhiana Urban Congress Committee and former Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, said that Pandit Nehru had played a historic role in India’s freedom struggle and in the reconstruction of the nation after independence. He said that institutions and projects such as the Bhakra Nangal Dam and Punjab Agricultural University were the result of Pandit Nehru’s visionary thinking. He laid the foundation of modern India and made significant contributions towards making the country self-reliant.
He appealed to party workers to follow the ideals and principles of Pandit Nehru. Among others Inderjit Kapoor, BM Kalia, Varun Sharma, Neeraj Birla, Pulkit Chaudhary, Jaswinder Singh Osahan, Tarsem Lal, Nirbhai Singh Ranguwal, Bal Krishan Bali were also present on the occasion.
