KAPURTHALA: Underlining the significance of right to vote for further strengthening constitutional values, Deputy Commissioner Capt. Karnail Singh urged the officials for maximum enrolment of new voters.
Addressing the students of different educational institutions here at Lyallpur Khalsa College while presiding over District level Voter’s Day function to mark National Voter’s Day, Capt. Karnail Singh appealed the people especially youngsters to cast their votes vis-a-vis making people aware to their right of franchise. the Deputy Commissioner also appreciated the work of election officials for their tireless working to complete mandated tasks time to time. He also mentioned that new eligible voters should be added in the list in view of upcoming elections. He also threw light on the background of ECI and the imitation of National Voter’s Day and urged the students to disseminate elections related info and awareness in their localities too.
The Deputy Commissioner also pointed out that the voters should cast their votes without any bias, fear and favour so as to ensure rich values of democracy. He also exhorted those youngsters, who couldn’t get their votes made so far, to contact District Election Office for making votes or use the tools of ECIs. SDM Lal Biswas Bains also spoke about the importance of National Voter’s Day.
Students of different educational institutes also gave performances based on awareness about voting process. The students were also apprised about the use of EVMs by the election officials. Deputy Commissioner Capt. Karnail Singh also gave away appreciation certificates to officials and students on the occasion.
