Sharma made Captain of super-Seniors Tennis Team
CLTA,CHANDIGARH:All India Tennis Association (AITA) has announced S M Sharma as Captain of Indian Super-Seniors (65+) tennis team that will represent India in the World Championship-2021 being organised by International Tennis Federation (ITF) in Mallorca, Spain from 10th to 15th October. Other members of the team are BNS Negi and Suresh Murthati with Ramesh Mavelikalam as standby.

Other members of the team are BNS Negi and Suresh Murthati with Ramesh Mavelikalam as standby.
Sharma retired as DGP from Punjab Police and then worked as Commissioner in the Punjab Right to Service Commission for five years till November 2016. Post retirement Sharma has honed his tennis skills further and is currently top ranked in his age group, in the country. He was also a Gold medalist in the last World Police Games-2019, held in Chengdu, China. He was a member of the Super-Seniors Team in 2019 as well that participated in world championship in Croatia.
Sharma is credited with the development of tennis in Punjab Police, who retained its supremacy in the All India Police Tennis Championships for over a decade, till his retirement. He is also associated with the development of tennis in Chandigarh where he is currently Vice-President of Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA).
