Bikram  Majithia demands registration of a criminal case against AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu for threatening and trying to grab the property of the family of former Ragi,  Bhai Harbans Singh
CHANDIGARH: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today demanded registration of a criminal case against Aam Aadmi party legislator Kulwant Singh Sidhu for threatening and trying to grab the property of the family of former Ragi – Bhai Harbans Singh Jagadhri wale.
Addressing a press conference here along with the victim's family, the SAD leader said it was shocking that the AAP legislator tried to usurp the property of the Ragi family after the latter approached him for help in dealing with a fraudulent registry of their property. “Instead of helping the family, Kulwant Sidhu first demanded a share in the property for resolving the dispute and then demanded the family sell the property worth Rs 20 crore to him for Rs 5 crore”.
Asserting that this was a case of extortion, land grabbing and intimidation, Mr Bikram Majithia said the MLA even tried to cover up his nefarious activities by calling the family to his home and releasing a video to show that a compromise had been reached. He said Mahagurjot Singh, the grandson of Bhai Harbans Singh, who had represented the family on the occasion, disclosed that he was taken to the MLA’s home on the pretext of being taken to the Commissioner’s office and was threatened at gunpoint. Mr Majithia said even at that time the MLA asked Mahagurjot to agree to a public compromise with the promise that the land would be returned to his family but went back on his word after releasing the video.
Mahagurjot while talking to newsmen said he was also given an offer by the MLA’s aide Varinder Singh Bajwa to sell the property for Rs 5 crore which he declined. He said following this he was being harassed and multiple defamation notices had been served to him to silence his voice. He also disclosed that he was trying his best to save his family property and had made repeated complaints to the police and revenue authorities but to no avail. He also condemned the defamation campaign being carried out against his grandfather who was being referred to as a thug and a thief by the legislator. “We are a renowned family whose members have been rendering Kirtan sewa since the last four generations”.
