LUDHIANA: With an objective to better prepare city students for the ‘tougher’ National Talent Search Examination, Stage-2 (national level) slated for May 8, Sarabha Nagar-based STEPS institute has decided to conduct a five-day workshop for the students from March 21st. This institute specialises in NTSE and Olympiad training.
It is notable that this year’s Punjab NTSE topper Tarush Goyal is one of the 10th class students who prepared for this prestigious exam under the expert guidance of STEPS faculty. Four other STEPS trainees, Gurasees of DAV BRS Nagar, Sushant Sodhi of Ryan International School, Vikrant Gupta and Jaskaran Kalra have bagged the 6th, 7th and 8th highest scores in the State.
According to the information available, in this workshop expert faculty of STEPS will not only focus on refreshing concepts for NTSE but also help enhance the students’ problem-solving skills. The workshop is free for the students.
According to Mrs Gurpreet Wadhera, General Manager, STEPS, “Since the level two will be a tougher challenge for the students, our expert faculty members would give their more than 100 per cent to help students rise to the expectations of their parents and teachers.”
She expressed the hope that like in NTSE level one, the students of STEPS would do even better at the national level.
For the uninitiated, NTSE is a flagship program of Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) for the students studying in Class X. The program is meant to identify and nurture talent pan-India.
This exam is one of the toughest and the most prestigious exams in India. Most of the students start their preparations early on, some from class VI onwards. They have to develop superior reasoning skills and problem-solving ability in addition to a sound grasp of the concepts of classes IX & X to crack this exam.
The examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-II (National Level). About 1000 scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:
(a) Scholarship of Rs.1250 per month for Class-XI to XII.
(b) Scholarship of Rs.2000 per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
(c)Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
About STEPS: STEPS was instituted in 2003 with the aim of helping gifted students realise their true potential and excel in various Olympiads. It has been at the forefront of NTSE training ever since with the maximum number of NTSE success from any institute in the city.
