CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has invited applications for the B.Pharm., B.Sc. (Hons. School) Semester System at the PU Campus, Chandigarh.

PU is a leading University of the country. It was ranked number one amongst Universities in India and Ranked 363 in the Thomson Reuters-powered 'Best Global Universities Rankings 2016' by US News and Global Report.

PU Spokesman informed that the Prospectus and application form for the entrance test, CET-UG 2016 have become available on the website i.e. http://cetug.puchd.ac.in/. 10+2 class students can file online application till April 28 as per their eligibility.

The admissions for the B.Pharm and various Hons. School Bachelor Degree Courses of would be based on CET-UG 2016 and the marks in Qualifying Examination (+2). Qualifying Examination (+2) and PU - CET (U.G.) Entrance Test would carry 25% and 75% weightage respectively. The entrance test CET-UG 2016 would be conducted on May 22, 2016. There would be 46 seats in B.Pharm at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS). There would be 30 seats each in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Anthropology, B.Sc. (Hons. School) Biochemistry and B.Sc. (Hons. School) Geology. There would be 25 seats each in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Biophysics, B.Sc. (Hons. School) Microbiology and B.Sc. (Hons. School) Zoology. There would be 20 seats each in B.Sc. (Hons. School)
Botany and B.Sc. (Hons. School) Physics (Specialization in Electronics). There would be 15 seats in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Biotechnology, 58 seats in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Chemistry, 40 seats in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Mathematics and 40 seats in B.Sc. (Hons. School) Physics.

PU has 55.5 percent seats in open Category, 15 percent quota for SC, 7.5 percent for ST, 5 percent each for BC and sports,3 percent for physically Handicapped, 2 percent each for riot victim and freedom fighter category.

Two additional seats have been created for those rural area students, who passed their matriculation and +2 examination from rural schools. Those candidates should have been studying in such schools for atleast five years before passing the last examination. One additional seats each have been created for the Border Area students; one girl child out of the only two girl children; cancer, AIDS patient and Kargil war.

There is additional quota for Foreign Nationals/ PIO/NRI students. Candidates desirous of seeking admission under the category of Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / NRI seats to B. Pharm. (Credit based Semester System) and B.Sc. (Honours School) courses, who are present in India at the time of test, will compete amongst themselves by appearing in the PU CET (U.G.) Entrance Test-2016. Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / NRI candidates, those living abroad at the time of entrance test
will be exempted from the entrance test.

The Last date for submission of online application to generate the bank challan is April 28, 2016 and Last date for submission of fee in any branch of SBI is April 30, 2016 upto 4 PM. The Last date for submission the fee details and uploading of photograph, signature with the rest of the information on the website is May 2, 2016. E-Admit cards would be available on the website on May 11, 2016. There will be no physical
communication for this purpose, PU Spokesman informed.
