AMRITSAR: Deputy Commissioner Madam Sakshi Sahni held a special meeting with people associated with the chess industry in Amritsar today and informed them about the difficulties facing the chess industry.
The Deputy Commissioner said in the meeting that wooden chess pieces are made only in Amritsar in the world and the main need of the hour is that more steps should be taken to further promote the chess industry in Amritsar.
She said that the district administration is always ready to help you. The Deputy Commissioner said that to further promote chess, it will be exhibited at the airport, railway station and other places so that the tourists coming from outside can get more information about this popular industry of Amritsar.
On this occasion, the representatives of the chess industry demanded that chess shops be opened at other prominent places of Amritsar and that the difficulties faced by the chess industry in getting electricity connections within the city limits be resolved. They demanded that efforts be made to allot us a place on subsidy basis during the Pitex fair to be held in the city. She said that around 20 chess making units are operating in Amritsar .
The Deputy Commissioner assured that your demands will be resolved on priority. During the meeting itself, she instructed the PSPCL , Industries Department , GST Department to resolve their problems on priority.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Paramjit Kaur , Deputy Commissioner Sales Tax Mrs. Rajwinder Kaur , MTP Mr. Narinder Sharma , Mr. Aditya Chopra , Mr. Rishi Sharma , S. Karnail Singh , S. Simarjit Singh and other persons associated with the chess industry were present.
