SRI MUKATSAR SAHIB: Miri-Piri Khalsa March is not a political road show, but a manifestation of the principles of Miri-Piri and Panthic traditions bestowed by Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. History is witness that in the challenging times faced by the Sikh community, great Nagar Kirtans and Panthic Morchas were started under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, which united the community.

This was expressed by Advocate Har jinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, while addressing the Sangat at the commencement of the Miri Piri Khalsa March from Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin Thehri Sahib..

Advocate Dhami said that calling the Miri-Piri Khalsa March a road show by the elected representative of the people is not only ignorance of Sikh traditions, but also hurts the religious sentiments of the Sangat. Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees and Sangat should respond to such statements in a timely manner so that the dignity of Guru Ghars and respect for Panthic traditions are maintained.

The SGPC President said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib has always stood for the welfare of all, justice and the progress of the Panth. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the Shiromani Akali Dal were also born under the umbrella of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and these institutions have always been dedicated to Panthic service. He said that from the Jaito Morcha to the difficult times of 1995, Sri Akal Takht Sahib has always guided the Panth. Even during the Emergency, Sant Baba Kartar Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale took out about 37 great Nagar Kirtans to make the nation aware and connect it with Gurmat. Similarly, under the leadership of Singh Sahib Giani Manjit Singh, the SGPC took out a grand Nagar Kirtan and conveyed the message of the principle of Miri-Piri and the ideology of Sant-Sipahi to every household.

Advocate Dhami said that the huge response being received by the devotees from the country and abroad to the Miri-Piri Khalsa March being held today under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj is not going to please some people. Due to this, an attempt is being made to defame this sacred Panthic tradition with words like road show, which is condemnable.

Speaking on the occasion, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib has been leading the Panth for centuries. Whenever there was an attack on Sikhism, Panthic traditions or institutions, Sri Akal Takht Sahib guided the Panth according to the principles of the Guru. He said that the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, by establishing Sri Akal Takht Sahib, bestowed the great principle of Miri-Piri on the Sikh Panth. Many had the misconception that in the house of Guru Nanak, there was only a matter of devotion, but the sixth Guru, by holding two kirpans, made it clear that along with devotion, power, along with a saint, soldiers and along with religion, the ability to confront oppression is equally important. The Miri-Piri Khalsa March is also a part of the same tradition. In an environment of frustration among parents due to the increasing drug abuse in Punjab, youth distancing themselves from their heritage, and questions being raised about Sikh institutions, this march has come out with the message of Chard Di Kala, Gurmat, and Panthic awareness.

This yatra has created new enthusiasm among the youth. Many youth have taken the vow to live in the Sikh form, this is the blessing of the Guru. He said that the criticism of some people cannot stop the path of this work.

He said that this is the same thinking that questions the propagation of religion that used to talk about sowing crops in the Guru's ponds. The Panth neither allowed such thinking to succeed in the past nor will it allow it in the future. He said that the nation has to be alert against such thinking that questions the dignity of the Guru's house and the Guru's servants. During the Khalsa March, Jathedar Singh Sahib of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Tek Singh also specially attended.

Before the departure of the Khalsa March, during the function at Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Muktsar Sahib, Head Preacher Bhai Sarabjit Singh Dhotian discussed the purpose of the Miri Piri Khalsa March and Sikh principles, and after the Ardas, the Holy Hukamnama was recited by Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Kewal Singh.

Avtar Singh Vanwala, member of the Dharam Prachar Committee, carries the holy form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the Palki Sahib during the departure of the Khalsa March.

The procession was graced by Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj and the service of Chaur Sahib was performed by Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj. Great enthusiasm is being seen among the Sangat towards the Miri Piri Khalsa March. The Khalsa March is being warmly welcomed by the Sangat at various stages.

The Miri Piri Khalsa March was warmly welcomed by the devotees at the villages of Tharajwala, Lalbai, Channu, Lambi, Khiuwali, Badal, Kaljhrani, Chak Atar Singh Wala, Nandgarh, Ghuda, Bahoyatri, Tiuna, Multanian, Kishan Chowk, Multanian Pul and Bathinda today, expressing their devotion to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
