PYC president writes to CM Bhagwant Mann, seeks action in incident of firing on Youth Congress leader of Gurdaspur

CHANDIGARH:  Punjab Youth Congress president Mohit Mohindra today wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raising his concern over poor law and order situation in the state and demanded immediate action into incident of firing at the residence of Nakul Mahajan in Gurdaspur. Nakul Mahajan is Halqa in charge of Youth Congress.

Mohit Mohindra said that brazen act of violence has left the community deeply concerned about the deteriorating law and order in Punjab. The incident dated August 29, 2024 was recorded in CCTV cameras where a masked man can be seen firing at least five gun shots at the residence of Nakul Mahajan. He said the situation escalated further when the accused issued threats to youth congress leader on his mobile in the presence of Police Inspector who reached on the spot and Baljit Singh Pahra district president of Youth Congress.

PYC president said that threats were also issued on social media thus putting the life of Nukal Mahajan in danger. He informed the CM that an immediate action was needed to prevent any untoward incident. He said that protection of life and liberty of residents of Punjab was crucial and also a direct challenge to the claims of peace in the state.

Mohindra demanded swift investigation into the firing incident and providing adequate security to Nukal Mahajan. He also sought to improve general law and order situation in the state to restore confidence of people in the government.
