SGPC extends support to flood-affected people of Assam
SGPC President Advocate Dhami writes a letter to Assam Chief Minister
AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief over the loss of life and property due to the recent terrible floods in Assam and has written a letter to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Hemant Biswa Sharma offering all possible support for flood relief and rehabilitation works.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Advocate Dhami said that the large number of people being displaced due to floods is extremely painful and at this time, the SGPC, being the highest body of the Sikhs, sympathizes with them. We feel that the people affected by these floods are facing immense difficulties. In this hour of grief, the SGPC stands with the Assam government and the affected people in accordance with the principles of Sikhism for the welfare of all and selfless service.
The SGPC President has assured the Assam government that teams of Sevadars will be sent for relief work as per the requirement and in coordination with the state government. Apart from this, the SGPC is also fully prepared to provide food items, drinking water, clothes, blankets and other essential relief materials, run langar services in the affected areas, provide financial assistance and provide all other possible support as per the requirement.
Advocate Dhami asked the Chief Minister of Assam to make the information of the concerned nodal officer or department available immediately to coordinate relief operations, so that the required resources and services can be reached to the affected people without any delay.
Meanwhile, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, said that a delegation is also being sent to immediately report on the situation in the flood-affected areas of Assam.
