People of Punjab living under constant fear of gangsters, snatchers, robbers: Mohit Mohindra

On call given by PPCC, PYC president led dharna in Patiala to protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the state
PATIALA: Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) president Mr.Mohit Mohindra led the dharna of party workers at Patiala to lodge their protest against the rising violence and deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. The call for protest was given by PPCC president Mr. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.

The PYC president submitted the memorandums to Police authorities at subdivision level. A large number youth Congressmen participated in the protest dharnas.

Mohit Mohindra president PYC led the youth congress workers at Patiala and demanded immediate steps to improve the law-and-order situation. While addressing the party workers, Mr.Mohit Mohindra said that people of Punjab were living under constant threat from gangsters, snatchers and robbers. The miscreants are spreading horror without the any fear of police. He said that life has become hell for the residents and they it is becoming difficult for traders to word due to threat calls from gangsters. He added that law and order machinery has become redundant.

Mr.Mohindra further said that people were not safe even on their homes and recently large number of incidents were reported from across the state where gun wielding miscreants entered the homes in day light and committed heinous crimes like murder, robberies and even kidnappings. He said that AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann had totally failed on law-and-order front while its performance in other sectors is also dismal.

PYC president said that week three to four murders were committed in the state and about 20 murders were reported in the month of August 2024 alone. He said that in the last two and half years of AAP government, 73625 heinous crimes were reported under IPC sections. The official data revealed that in the year 2022, two persons were killed every day, a total of 670 in a year.

He alleged that AAP government was sheltering the gangsters and clear evidence is interview of dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi conducted in the custody of Punjab Police at Kharar. He said that no serious steps were taken to repatriate gangsters operating from foreign land in Canada and US.

Mr.Mohindra stated that drug menace was on rise too due to organised gangs working under the nose of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that an AAP worker Tarlochan Singh was killed a few days back but Chief Minister had not uttered a single word of sympathy for the deceased man. Similar incidents were reported from various cities. He cited the example of Ferozepur where three persons including a girl were shot dead by three assailants. He said that time was not too far when Punjab would be known as a banana republic.
