Municipal Corporation Amritsar launches major enforcement drive against three unauthorized dairies in Mohkampura
AMRITSAR: In compliance with the directions of the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar (MCA) today conducted a special enforcement drive against three unauthorized dairies operating in Mohkampura area under Ward No. 22 of the East Assembly Constituency. During the operation, six cattle were seized and shifted to the Municipal Corporation's Gaushala.
The action was carried out under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Mr. Bikramjit Singh Shergill and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Jai Inder Singh, under the supervision of Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Dr. Kiran. During the drive, action was taken against three unauthorized dairies found operating in violation of Municipal Corporation regulations.
The enforcement drive was conducted with the support of the District Administration and Punjab Police to ensure effective implementation of the directions issued by the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court. The joint enforcement team comprised Naib Tehsildar Angad Singh, Chief Sanitary Officer (CSO) J.P. Babbar, Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Vijay Gill, Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Sarabjit Singh, SI Ravinder Kumar, along with officials and staff of the Municipal Corporation Amritsar and Punjab Police.
Municipal Commissioner Mr. Bikramjit Singh Shergill stated that the Municipal Corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against unauthorized dairies operating in residential and prohibited areas. He said that such illegal dairies not only create unhygienic conditions but also pollute the environment and pose a serious threat to public health.
He appealed to all unauthorized dairy owners to immediately shift their dairy units to the Fatehpur Dairy Complex, which has been developed by the Municipal Corporation as the designated location for dairy activities. He said that the complex provides the necessary infrastructure and facilities to ensure proper sanitation, environmental protection and the convenience of city residents.
Issuing a stern warning, the Commissioner said that if any unauthorized dairy is found operating within the city limits in the future, strict action will be taken, including seizure of cattle, demolition or removal of illegal structures, imposition of penalties and other legal action as per the law. He added that the special enforcement drive against unauthorized dairies will continue across all zones of the city, and no violator will be spared.
The Municipal Corporation Amritsar has appealed to all dairy owners to voluntarily comply with its directions by shifting their dairies to the Fatehpur Dairy Complex and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier and better-managed Amritsar.
