Missing Woman Reunited with Her Family Through the Efforts of the District Administration
AMRITSAR: A missing woman residing at the Community Home for Mentally Retarded, Majitha Road, Amritsar, an institution functioning under the Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab, has been successfully reunited with her family through the coordinated efforts of the District Administration.
Sharing the details, District Social Security Officer Shri Asees Inder Singh said that Sombri Mudi (43) had been residing at the Community Home since July 5, 2021. She repeatedly expressed her desire to return home, but due to the language barrier and the lack of information about her family, it had not been possible to trace her relatives.
He said that while processing her Aadhaar Card, the institution obtained details of her address, which revealed that she belongs to Kunjachak, Amdai, West Bengal. Subsequently, the institution arranged counselling through a translator, enabling officials to gather vital information about her family.
He further informed that Ms. Savita Rani, Superintendent of the Community Home, with the assistance of Mrs. Preeti Sharma, In-charge of the Sakhi One Stop Centre, got the woman's address verified. After the address was confirmed, the family was contacted, and they expressed their willingness to take her back home.
He added that, under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, and the guidance of the District Social Security Officer, all necessary legal and administrative formalities were completed before the woman was formally handed over to her family members.
To ensure her safe journey, the institution arranged a police escort, and she was sent to her native state of West Bengal accompanied by a police guard and an attendant from the institution.
