AMRITSAR: Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the four-laning of the old road connecting the two historic districts of Majha region, Amritsar and Tarn Taran.
He was accompanied by MLA Jaswinder Singh Ramdas and Kashmir Singh Sohal on this occasion. He said that this road will be four lanned at a cost of around Rs 70 crore.
Addressing the large gathering on this occasion, Harbhajan Singh ETO said that for the last 33 years no government has taken care of this 30 feet wide road, and now common people’s own Mann government has taken initiative to upgrade it.
He said that this road connecting the Historic Gurdwaras like Sri Darbar Sahib, Shaheed Baba Deep Singh's Gurdwara, Tahla Sahib, Baba Naudh Singh's Samadha, Tarn Taran, Sangrana Sahib, Goindwal Sahib will now be 23-23 feet wide on each sides with a 6.5 feet divider “Apart from this, a separate 10-10 feet slip road will be constructed to facilitate devotees at Tahla Sahib and Sangrana Sahib. Drains system and street lights worth Rs. 70 lakh will also be installed to facilitate the commuters on this road”, said PWD Minister while giving a call to the people to keep a vigil eye on the construction of this road and bring to his notice if they found anything fishy.
ETO said that the Mann government is not only widening the roads, but strengthening Punjab from all aspects. He said that corruption is being eradicated from the state, and so far around 600 officers and employees have been nabbed. He said along with this, government jobs letters are being provided to the youth every next day by the Chief Minister.
He said that the Power department, which was running under loss earlier, is now running at a profit of Rs 564 crore. He said that Aam Aadmi Party will create a history by winning all the Lok Sabha seats in Punjab in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, MLA Attari Constituency Jaswinder Singh Ramdas thanked the Punjab Government for starting work on this important road. He said that four-lanning this road will not only help in facilitating traffic but also boost the development of the areas adjacent to this road.
On this occasion, MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal said that four lanning of this road will facilitate devotees visiting historic Gurwaras situated along it. He said that the Mann government has been upgrading the schools and hospitals, besides upgrading the road infrastructure. On this occasion Baljit Singh Khaira, Lok Sabha in-charge Khadur Sahib, Chairman Chanakh Singh, Madam Seema Sodhi women president, Sarabjit Singh Dimpy city president Jandiala Guru also addressed the gathering.
