Former Punjab DGP Mohammed Izhar Alam who created 'Alam Sena' to kill Sikh youth died of cardiac arrest

CHANDIGARH: Former Punab DGP Mohammed Izhar Alam who created 'Alam Sena' during militacy period to kill Sikh youth died of cardiac arrest today.

According to information he got a heart attack at his home and taken to hospital where he was declared brough dead.He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. He was 72.

Alam had joined Shiromani Akali Dal(Badal) after retiorement from his service and considred very close to Badal family. His wife Farzana Ahmed had remained a MLA of SAD. She was also made head of Istri Akali Dal but her name was dropped after protest by Sikhs. His death is big loss for the Badal family as he was party's front man in the Muslim community.
