Earth Day-2026 celebrated at Guru Nanak Dev University
AMRITSAR: Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, and coordination Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur, Head of Department Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated Earth day- 2026. The event, themed on “Our planet, Our power”, aimed to raise awareness among students about collective actions, nature-positive policies and investment in sustainable solutions to combat climate change, biodiversity loss, and other environmental related problems.
Prof. Rajinder Kaur apprised the students about theme of earth day-2026 and insist on transition from non-renewable energy resources to renewable energy resources. She emphasized on role of an individual for the protection of environment and to work on local environmental problems with collective efforts. The students actively participated in the event by making posters and giving presentations on plastic waste, solid waste, renewable energy, circular economy, zero waste etc.
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Nitika Kapoor, who expressed gratitude to all the faculty members and students who actively participated in Earth Day celebrations. On this occasion, research scholars, faculty members including Dr. Astha Bhatia, Dr Kirandeep Dhami, Dr. Mehak Taneja, Dr Kritika Pandit and other faculty members were also present. The event was a great success and left a lasting impact on all the participants
