AMRITSAR: Taking strict notice of the incident of some people demolishing a part of the building of the Gurdwara Sahib located in Farrukabad, Sheikhupura district in Pakistan and grabbing the property, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has asked the Pakistan government to ensure the preservation of Sikh heritage.
Advocate Dhami said that there are many Gurdwaras and heritages related to Sikh history in Pakistan, the responsibility of maintaining which lies with the government there.
He said that according to the information received, some people have taken such a heinous act to grab the property of Gurdwara Sahib in Mandi Sakrana of Farrukhabad. This Gurdwara Sahib is a historical place from the time of Singh Sabha movement, with which important memories of Sikh history are associated. It is the responsibility of the local administration and the government to maintain and protect such places, and not to destroy their historical heritage by demolishing them.
Advocate Dhami appealed to the Pakistan government and the Evacuee Trust Property Board to conduct an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter, take strict action against the responsible persons, and take appropriate steps for the reconstruction and preservation of the Gurdwara Sahib while preserving its historical identity.
He said that Gurdwaras and other Sikh heritage sites related to Guru Sahibs located in Pakistan are the centre of faith of the Sangat across the world. Solid arrangements should be made for their security so that no such incident happens again in the future.
