Two killed, one woman seriously injured as their car rammed into stationary truck

PHAGWARA:  Two Occupants of Innova Car were killed on the spot while one woman sustained serious injuries when An Innova Car in which they were travelling to Goindwal rammed into a stationary stell rods loaded truck near Eastwood Village on National Highways this morning.

The deceased was identified as Rajinder Singh(50) resident of Goindwal near TaranTaran and car driver Atiq Khan RO Goindwal also. The seriously injured woman was sent to a private hospital in Jalandhar. The Police have registered a case.

Highway police officials, who arrived at the scene following a helpline call, reported that they, along with the help of bystanders, managed to rescue the trapped passengers from the vehicle and transported them to the hospital. The witnesses urged that goods should be transported in sealed containers instead of open trucks to prevent such accidents in the future.
