Two Armed Motorcycle Snatching Incidents Trigger Alarm in Phagwara
PHAGWARA: Two separate incidents of armed motorcycle snatching reported in and around Phagwara within a short span have sparked concern among residents and commuters, with police launching investigations to trace the culprits.
In the first incident, armed motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly snatched an FZ motorcycle at gunpoint on the near Club Cabana on national highways. According to preliminary information, Shashi resident of Ludhiana, along with his friend, was travelling from the Lovely Professional University (LPU) side towards Phagwara when three unidentified youths riding a motorcycle allegedly intercepted them. The accused reportedly hit the victims’ motorcycle, causing both riders to lose balance and fall onto the road. One of the assailants allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened the duo before fleeing with their motorcycle.
The victims immediately alerted the police, following which a team from Phagwara police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and gathering other evidence to identify and apprehend the accused.
In another incident , three armed miscreants allegedly snatched a motorcycle from a youth identified as Mukesh near village Mauli on the outskirts of Phagwara. The assailants escaped from the scene after committing the crime. Police have also begun investigating this case and are exploring whether the two incidents were carried out by the same gang.
The back-to-back motorcycle snatching incidents have heightened security concerns in the region, particularly along the busy Jalandhar–Phagwara highway and adjoining rural areas. Police have intensified efforts to trace the suspects and recover the stolen motorcycles, while further investigation is underway.
