Six arrested in Bengaluru drug bust; MDMA, Hydro Ganja worth Rs 20 crore seized

BENGALURU: Six people, including two inter-state operatives and four locals, have been arrested by the Bengaluru police on Tuesday for allegedly selling illegal narcotic substances in the Yeshwanthpur and Nandini Layout areas of the city.

The arrests were made following multiple raids conducted within the limits of Yeshwanthpur Police Station (in two separate cases) and Nandini Layout Police Station (in one case) based on credible information received from informants on different dates.

Police registered cases under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act before launching the operations.

According to police, the accused were involved in procuring banned drugs such as MDMA and hydro ganja at low prices from unidentified inter-state and local suppliers and selling them at higher rates, particularly targeting the general public and college students to make illegal profits.

During the raids, police seized a total of 8 kg 58 grams of MDMA and 5 kg 700 grams of hydro ganja from the possession of the accused. In addition, four mobile phones used for communication in the drug trade and one car were also confiscated.

The total value of the seized materials has been estimated at Rs 10.05 crore, while the market value is said to be around Rs 20.10 crore, indicating the scale of the illegal operation.

Police officials said efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the unidentified suppliers, both local and inter-state, who were allegedly providing the narcotic substances to the accused. The investigation is currently ongoing.
