PHAGWARA: A heart-wrenching road accident late on Monday evening claimed the lives of a man and his six-year-old daughter, while his wife sustained critical injuries in a devastating collision near Bhulla Rai Chowk in Phagwara.

According to information received, the tragic mishap occurred after two cars and a truck were involved in a collision near Bhulla Rai Chowk, creating chaos on the busy roadway. Amid the confusion, Sukhbir Singh, who was travelling on a motorcycle along with his wife and young daughter, became trapped in the accident. His motorcycle reportedly collided with the truck, resulting in a catastrophic impact.

The collision was so severe that all three family members suffered grievous injuries. Passersby immediately rushed to their aid and shifted them to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, for emergency treatment.

However, despite the efforts of doctors, Sukhbir Singh and his six-year-old daughter succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead on arrival. His wife, who sustained critical injuries, was provided initial medical treatment before being referred to a higher medical centre for specialized care due to her serious condition.

The tragic deaths of the father and daughter have sent shockwaves through the area, leaving residents and relatives grief-stricken. The incident once again highlights the growing concern over road safety and the devastating consequences of high-impact collisions on busy highways and urban roads.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the DSP Phagwara Palwinder Singh accompanied by a police team, reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Police officials are examining the circumstances that led to the collision and are working to ascertain responsibility for the fatal accident.

A case is being processed and further investigation is underway.
