Chairman-cum-District and Sessions Judge of DLSA Ms. Harpreet Kaur Randhawa visited the jail to identify juvenile prisoners and inmates

AMRITSAR: Hon'ble Chairman-cum-District and Sessions Judge of District Legal Services Authority Ms. Harpreet Kaur Randhawa visited the jail today to identify juvenile prisoners and inmates from the Central Jail.

She instructed the doctors and prison officials posted in the jail to identify the minor prisoners from the jail based on their records and physical parameters and prepare a list of adult prisoners so that they can be transferred from the jail to the juvenile correctional home.

On this occasion, she checked the food given to the prisoners by eating the food himself.

Apart from this, she visited the jail canteen and saw the opportunity for cleaning and other arrangements.
She also talked openly with the prisoners and got their views about the prison arrangements.

It is to be noted that a special campaign has been started for the identification of juvenile prisoners under the leadership of the Sessions Judge .Under this campaign, action is being taken to identify the prisoners and detainees in jails who were minors at the time of the crime and to send their application to the Child Care Institute so that if the prisoners or detainees are found to be juveniles, they can be provided with child care. Be sent to institute or safe place.

The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Mr. Rachpal Singh said on this occasion that apart from this, all other prisoners or detainees who are between 18 to 22 years of age will also be scrutinized and if any juvenile is found among them, he will be Action will also be taken as per above.

He said that under this campaign, he has assigned the duty of Jail Visiting Liar and PLV who will go to the Jail continuously and collect information on the prescribed form and take appropriate action. This campaign will continue throughout the month.

On this occasion, CGAM Mr. Amit Malhan, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Parinder Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate First Class Mr. Varinder Kumar, Judicial Magistrate First Class Mr. Supinder Singh, Superintendent Central Jail Mr. Anurag Kumar Azad, Deputy Superintendent Jail Mr. Shyamal Jyoti and Raja Navdeep Singh. froBesides, other police officers were also present.
