MOHALI: Required in the Indian Army in Nov 2022, Ishmeet Singh seemed to have run out of reasons on why he should continue as an Agniveer. During his leave period, he found his calling in the world of crime. He procured illegal weapons and fromed a gang, which was later involved in highway robberies and vehicle thefts.

But Ishmeet's stint in the crime world was short-lived too as Mohali police busted the agng, arresting him and two other memebers, which included his brother Prabhdeep, Balkaran Singh, was Ishmeet meet's friend, said Mohali senior superintendent of police(SSP) Sandeep Garg.

The police have seized a stolen taxi, Bullet motorcycle, scooter and country-made pistol with cartidges from the trio.

SSP Garg said, "Ishmeet alias Eeshu was recruited as an Agniveer in Nov 2022. He was serving in West Bengal, when he took a leave about two months back and did not return to duty. Instead, he rented a room in Balongi, and started committing thefts and robberies along with his brother Prabhpreet Singh and friend Balkaran Singh."
