AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Oarbabdhak CommittSee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the Interim Committee expressed grief over the incident of burning of the holy Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Barike near Jalalabad yesterday and appealed to the devotees to be vigilant and perform their services.
He said that special arrangements should be made to ensure security inside the Guru Ghars and for periodic maintenance of electrical equipment.
He said that this responsibility increases even more during the summer season, about which the devotees need to be aware.
Advocate Dhami while talking to media after the meeting of exective committe meeting which was held here today Advocate Dhami said that the information being sought by the SIT formed by the Punjab government in the case of 328 sacred forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was also discussed in today's In-House Committee.
He said that the Shiromani Committee is providing cooperation to the SIT as per the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and in this regard, he had written a letter to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The Jathedar has sent a letter asking for cooperation only in the case of 328 sacred forms.
He said that the government's investigation team is deliberately making false statements to tarnish the image of the Sikh institution, which is not justified in any way.
He said that the Shiromani Committee is cooperating with complete transparency in this matter.
He also said that the Shiromani Committee will not provide any information sought outside this case to the SIT. He also called for an immediate end to the false statements being made against the Sikh institution by some people in this matter.
Advocate Dhami also informed that the Interim Committee has also decided to give 3% dearness allowance to the employees of the Shiromani Committee.
In a meeting held at the head office of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee under the leadership of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, the interim committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, today, a vote of thanks was passed for all the Sikh organizations and the congregation who attended the grand Panthic conference held at Baba Bakala Sahib yesterday.
Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the SGPC, said that the objections to the “Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026” passed by the Punjab government were discussed in the grand Panthic conference held at Baba Bakala Sahib yesterday, where the heads of Sikh organizations participated, while a large number of congregations participated and expressed their feelings towards this act.
Advocate Dhami said that in today's meeting, the Interim Committee specially thanked all the Panthic organizations, Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh Dals, Sikh organizations, Singh Sabhas, Diwans, Sikh Federations, Sabha Societies, Udasi, Nirmala and Kar Seva Wale Mahapurush, Sewa Panthi Sampradahs, Gurdwara Committees, Granthi and Akhandpathi Singhs, Sikh scholars and intellectuals, including the Sikh Sangat, for participating in this Panthic Conference organized by the Shiromani Committee under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Along with this, all the employees including the secretaries, preachers, dhadis and kavishar jathas of the Shiromani Committee were also appreciated for inspiring the Sangat and for fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication while being dedicated to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
