AMRITSAR: Sifat Kaur Samra, a talented athlete and student of BPES Semester 3 of Guru Nanak Dev University Campus and a renowned shooter from India, has brought honor to the country by winning a gold medal in the Women’s 50 Meter Rifle 3 Positions event at the ISSF World Cup 2025.
This victory marks the first gold medal for India in this World Cup. Sift's achievement is a result of her continuous hard work, talent, and the relentless guidance of her shooting coach from Guru Nanak Dev University, Miss Rajvinder Kaur, also congratulated sift for her best performance
Professor Karamjeet Singh, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, praised Sift's remarkable victory, saying, "This gold medal is indicative of the bright future of sports in our country and is a matter of pride for Guru Nanak Dev University. Sifat is a role model for our students, teaching them that with hard work and determination, anything is possible."
He emphasized that the university has consistently achieved excellence in sports, having won the Abul Kalam Azad Trophy 25 times. Recently, athletes have also secured medals at the national level by achieving top positions in inter-university sports competitions. "Our athletes excel in various sports like athletics, hockey, shooting, and cycling. All these achievements are a result of the collective hard work of our coaches, including dedicated mentors like Miss Rajvinder Kaur, the athletes, and the sports department, " he stated. Dr. Kanwarmandeep Singh, the Director of Sports at Guru Nanak Dev University, shared this news and stated that Sifat’s achievement has further elevated the status of the university in sports. He mentioned that this gold medal reflects the university’s dedication to sports and is an excellent example of the commitment and talent of its athletes.
