SGPC strongly objected to re-parole of Gurmeet Ram Rahim

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has strongly objected to the government's repeated parole to Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving a sentence in jail on felony charges of murder and rape.

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, said that the government's special sympathy with Ram Rahim raises questions. This is a phenomenon directly inspired by politics. He said that the governments in the country are adopting a dual policy. On the one hand, parole is repeatedly granted to a person serving sentence for rape and murder charges, while on the other hand, a biased attitude is being adopted towards Sikhs who have been detained in jails for three decades.

Advocate Dhami said that it is objectionable for the governments to turn a blind eye to the heinous crimes of Gurmeet Ram Rahim for political interests and to let him go again and again and this is an action to rub salt in the wounds of the victims of the atrocities committed by Ram Rahim.
