PYC president Mohit Mohindra expresses solidarity with striking PCMS doctors

Asks APP Government to accept doctor's demands, restore medical services
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Youth Congress president Mohit Mohindra today expressed solidarity with the striking PCMS doctors.He asked the AAP government to accept all the demands of doctors and immediately restore the medical services in the state.

In a statement issued here today Mohindra said that OPD in government run hospitals was completely shut down and patients are suffering due to callous attitude of the Punjab government. He said that doctors were on strike since September 9 and there is no sincere efforts made by the government to resolve the issue.

PYC president said that doctors were demanding adequate security in hospitals besides restoration of the assured career progression scheme. Mohindra said that security of doctors was vital issue in wake of recent incidents of violent acts in Punjab and Kolkata incident of rape and murder of a young doctor. He demanded to strictly implement Punjab Protection of Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2008. He added that primary health care services in state run hospitals were shattered even before the strike due to over 50 percent vacancies of doctors and para-medical staff.

Mohindra said that a meeting between the doctors and group of ministers had ended without any solution as state government is ready to give in writing about the time frame of implementing the two major demands of medical professionals. He also sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and restore the medical services. He reminded the Chief Minister about his commitment during elections that health and educations would be his priorities if given power. He said that people of Punjab were regretting their decision to vote for AAP.
