LUDHIANA: 75th Independence Day was celebrated at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana with great enthusiasm. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice–Chancellor, GADVASU unfurled the National Flag in the University premises. Dr. Singh, firstly paid rich tributes to all those who fought for country’s freedom. He said that we all must remember and salute them. The function of Independence Day was dedicated to 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-75 years of Independence'.
In his address, Dr. Inderjeet Singh said that in this year GADVASU developed education facilities and infrastructure under Institutional Development Plan in a very meticulous manner. He motivated students to do research according to future needs. He informed that good number of our students placed in different renowned agencies. He acknowledged Canine Research Centre and Networks Project and Capacity Building Resource Centre under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana which was earned by GADVASU in recent times. Dr. Singh said that germplasm improvement is the need of the hour and we are doing good work on different species of livestock, goat and pig. He appreciated the work of different KVKs to extend their services in different processing techniques for milk and honey. He said that extension related Tele-Advisory Centre's services will be a boon for the farmers. He also discussed notable work of landscaping unit of GADVASU for beautification and green environment of campus. He praised and motivated scientists and employees of GADVASU to put their best for strengthening of institute. He said that we will support our graduates from the corpus fund of university for their further research.
Patriotic songs and poems were presented by students of university. The celebration was attended by officers of the GADVASU, Heads of Departments, faculty, staff and students. The entire well managed show was organized by Directorate of Students Welfare cum Estate Office under the leadership of Dr. Satyavan Rampal DSW cum EO.
