He said that open water should not be left in the fields without any need and water should be used only as per requirement so that future generations can be kept safe. He gave a message to the farmers that only the varieties of paddy/basmati recommended by Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana for cultivation in Punjab should be sown.

He also inspected the paddy fields planted using direct sowing technique at village Joga Sighwala (Bandala) of Block Jandiala Guru and praised the farmers who adopted this technique and said that the forward thinking of these farmers helped in saving water under the soil. will be He also appealed to the farmers to maintain constant contact with the agricultural experts to connect with new farming techniques.
